It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that causes people to loose touch with reality. It can result in delusions, hallucinations, disordered thinking and speech, abnormal motor behaviour and generally symptoms negative to everyday life. It can be easily mistaken for disorders such as schizoaffective disorder, schizoid personality disorder, anti-NMDAR encephalitis, bipolar disorder, delusional disorder, brain tumours and injuries, Fahr’s syndrome, syphilis and malaria.
