It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Dysplasia, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Vulval Cancer.
Vulval cancer is a type of cancer that occurs on the outside of the vagina. It commonly forms a lump or sore on the vulva that often causes itching and is commonly diagnosed in older adults. Further symptoms include pain and tenderness, bleeding that isn’t menstruation, and skin changes. Vulvar cancer can be misdiagnosed as lichen sclerosis, hyperplasia, dysplasia and condyloma.
