It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Herpangina , when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Hand, Foot And Mouth Disease.
Hand-foot-and-mouth disease is a contagious viral infection caused by the coxsackie virus. It is characterised by sores in the mouth and a rash on the hands and feet. It is a disease of childhood and there is no treatment except for increased hygiene and management for the symptoms. It can be misdiagnosed as other conditions with common dermatological presentations such as strep throat or impetigo.
