It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Otitic Barotrauma, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Nasopharyngeal Cancer.
Nasopharyngeal cancer is a disease where cancer cells form in the tissues of the nasopharynx, the top of your wind pipe. Symptoms of nasopharangeal cancer include a lump in the nose or neck, sore throat, trouble breathing or speaking, nosebleeds, trouble hearing, pain or ringing in the ear and headaches. It can be mistaken for conditions such as otitic barotrauma and if allowed to continue to grow will lead to death without appropriate treatment.
