It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Ovarian Torsion, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Ovarian Cyst.
Ovarian cysts generally require no treatment as they go away on their own. Birth control pills may be required to stop additional cysts from forming, If the cyst doesn’t go away on its own, surgery may be required to remove it. Diagnosis is through a pelvic exam followed by blood tests as well as imaging tests. An ultrasound is used to detect the cysts and their size and characteristics.
