It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Rheumatic Diseases, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Fibromyalgia.
Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by musculoskeletal pain throughout the whole body along with fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. There is no cure and the symptoms can be managed with pain relivers, antidepressants, antiseizure medications, physical and occupational therapy and counselling. Due to how nonspecific these symptoms are, fibromyalgia can easily be misdiagnosed as rheumatic disease, mental health conditions and neurological disorders.
